This dish is good for confinement ladies. It is very fragrant and makes the body warm. The fragrance come from the sesame oil.


Ingredients:
1 piece chicken thigh
1 thumb size ginger
1/2  tbsp dark soy sauce
1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 cup water

Method:
1. Wash chicken thigh and chop into bite-sized pieces
2. Clean ginger and cut into strips.
3. Heat up a wok with sesame oil.
4. When the oil is hot, fry sliced ginger till aromatic.
5. Add chopped chicken pieces with all the soy sauce. Add water and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
6. Serve hot with rice.

2 slices kurau/jenak fish
1 lady's finger (okra) (cut into slices)
1 red chili

Asam pedas paste
2 red shallots
1 cloves garlic
2 red chillies
1 dried chillies
1 small piece shrimp paste (belacan)
1 candle nut (buah keras)
1 tablespoon tamarind juice
1 stalk lemon grass
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp oil
a pinch of salt
a pinch of sugar

Method:

1.Blend chillies, shallots, garlic, candle nut , slice lemon grass and shrimp paste together until very fine.

2. Steam fish slices with lady's finger and slice chillies for 6 minutes.

3.Heat up oil in a pot or wok and fry the pounded ingredients till aromatic. Add in tamarind juice,salt, sugar, water and let it boil for 3 minutes.

4.Pour the gravy on top of the fish. Serve with hot rice.

Tofu is rich in protein. It is low in fats and very suitable for children, convalescent and old people.


Ingredients:
1 piece smooth tofu
1tbsp oyster sauce
1 stalk spring onions
1/4 cup water
1tbsp dried shrimp
1tbsp oil

Method:
1. Steam tofu with some thin slices of spring onions in a wok for five minutes.
2. Heat up a wok, pour oil and fry dried shrimp till fragrant. It will take only a few seconds. Add in oyster sauce and water. Fry for another few seconds.
3. Pour the fried dried shrimps over the steamed tofu. It is now ready to be served.

Semolina flour is used to make sugee cake. It has a grainy and coarse texture.  



Ingredients:
250 g butter
150 g Castor sugar
100ml fresh milk
140 g self-raising flour
100 g semolina flour +150ml milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bi-carbonate soda

Method:
1. Measure all the ingredients and put aside. .

2. Mix 150 ml milk with all the semolina flour. Leave aside for 1 hour.

3.Heat up the oven about 180 degrees Celsius

4. Sift flour with baking powder and bi-carbonate soda.

4. Cream butter with sugar and the semolina flour mixture till creamy. Add fresh milk and self-raising  flour alternately. Lastly add in vanilla essence for added aroma.

5.Pour the cake mixture in a greased round or square tin about 20 cm in diameter.
